Ugh. Not my best writing, to say the least. I was inspired, a few nights ago, to jot down in my mental notebook a scene sort of like this, but in the intervening hours and minutes, I have lost and rearranged a good deal of it, so what we have is this overwritten and underpowered paragraph. Still, it's better than Dean Koontz. hehehe...
