When I was in elementary school, and later in journalism class in high school, we learned about something known as an "Attention Getting Device". This was an important thing, important enough to get an acronym, if not a good one. "Don't forget to lead with your AGD!" I would hear. In literary analysis, if it can even be called that at the level they were teaching it to us, we learned to differentiate between the AGD and actual literary content.

*sigh* I hope I learned that lesson properly. I think I should take that class over.
